This Introduction Sport Climbing course is ideal for complete beginners with an aspiration to start rock climbing, and for indoor climbers looking to make the transition to climbing outdoors and develop their outdoor climbing skills.
The daily schedule of these itineraries revolves around making the most of daylight hours for getting outdoors and on to the crags. You will be taken to the climbing sector each day after breakfast, with packed lunch provided to keep you energised through the day. We will help you to become confident on the different routes and identify the best and most suitable lines. After a day on superb rock you will enjoy an evening with amazing food.
We will have a chance to talk through the day's climbing, analyse the days progress, improvements and planned work for the next day.
We will help you understand and practise all the technical aspects involved in sport climbing outdoors: choosing your route and equipment, belaying safely, placing gear, efficient movement, reading rock, setting anchors, safety, problem avoidance and climbing technique.
The aim of this course is to help you start leading your own rock routes in a safe and controlled environment. It is one of our most popular courses as climbers often find it difficult to make the transition from top roping or following climbs to leading them.
We maximise the time you spend on the rock face, putting the skills into practice as they are acquired. You will gain a full understanding of the equipment used for climbing, and how to use it safely.
